Thousands flock to Far North's Savannah in the Round music festival
Thousands of music lovers have travelled across Australia to Far North Queensland's Savannah in the Round festival for four days of country music performances.
Thousands of music lovers from all over the country flocked to Savannah in the Round for four days of bootscooting action to catch some of the biggest names in country music.
Punters flocked to the Far North from all corners of the country, including two mates from Tasmania who flew up specifically for the event.
Roger Aalberegt and Alen Lee said they couldn’t miss the opportunity to catch some of country’s music’s biggest names.
“We wouldn’t miss it,” Mr Aalberegt said.
US country music heavyweights Zac Brown Band, known for their hit single Chicken Fried, headlined on Saturday night.
The hitmakers joined by a stellar line up of national and international stars including Jackson Dean, Kasey Chambers, The Black Sorrows, James Johnston, Beccy Cole, Chocolate Starfish and more.
Queensland mum Josie Mackie, husband Dennis and their son George, had not missed a Savannah in the Round festival for years, even making the trip up during Covid.
“We’ve been coming for around five years now. (George) has been coming since he was a baby,” Ms Mackie said.
“When Covid happened, this was the only music festival that went ahead and because the borders were closed, it was only for Queenslanders, and it was such an amazing, intimate performance and we were able to watch the sunset from the stands. It was beautiful.”
