A teenage girl has suffered burns to her face, arms and legs after an incident involving petrol in Far North Queensland.

A rescue helicopter has been sent to transport the patient, believed to be in her late teens, to hospital.

It’s understood the accident involved the ignition of a flammable liquid at an isolated property north of Cairns.

At 12.10pm paramedics received a triple-0 call from a house in Julatten requesting urgent medical assistance.

Queensland Ambulance Service crews are currently en route to the Nine Mile Rd property.

A spokeswoman said the girl sustained burns to her face, arms and legs, however her exact condition was not yet known as medics have not yet arrived at the scene.

It’s understood the rescue helicopter has now been re-routed to land at Mossman Hospital to pick up the injured girl.

In a busy afternoon for paramedics, a crew has also been sent to Silky Oak, south of Tully, for two patients who sustained electrical burns in a workplace accident.

At 12.05pm a Queensland Ambulance received a call from the job site at Silky Oak.

“He has got burns to his hands, it’s more of an electrical injury and might have been holding something that’s come in contact with an electrical board, like a flash burn,” a spokeswoman said.

“He has isolated burns to the hands, they will probably end up going to Brisbane for that because hand burns are significant because we use them so much.”
