MCDONALD'S restaurants in the Cairns area are going on a recruitment spree, looking to fill 200 jobs across 12 restaurants in the coming months.

And it’s an opportunity for so much more, according to Gordonvale and Innisfail McDonald’s owner Steven Moore.

Mr Moore began working as a McDonald's crew member in Sydney at the age of 14, and steadily rose up the ranks to the point he was a full time manager by the time he left school.

Moving to the Sunshine Coast where he eventually owned three restaurants, he recently sold up and moved to Cairns, purchasing the Gordonvale and Innisfail restaurants.

“The career opportunities in McDonald’s are excellent,” he said, pointing to his own career trajectory.

The 12 restaurants across the region are looking to fill positions across a variety of roles, from casual to part time to full time.

Mr Moore said McDonald’s typically liked to continually hire, but this was the time of year where the company liked to expand its teams.

“We’re looking for people of all different experience. McDonald’s offers great training and we’re looking for people that are outgoing, hard working, friendly and committed to customer service.”

Mr Moore said the company also offered lots of flexibility to suit different people’s working requirements across its stores, a lot of which are open 24/7.
