A man is fighting for life in hospital after a verbal altercation escalated and turned into an alleged violent attack in the car park of a Mareeba club at the weekend.

A MAN is fighting for life in hospital after a verbal altercation escalated and turned into an alleged violent attack in the car park of a Mareeba club at the weekend.
Mareeba police arrested and charged a 32-year-old man following an alleged incident on Saturday.
Police will allege at around 10pm, March 5, three men who are known to each other were drinking and watching football at a Doyle St club when a verbal altercation broke out between two of the men aged 24 and 28-years-old.
The three men allegedly walked outside when a 32-year-old man pushed the 28-year-old man
several times and punched him in the face.
The 28-year-old Mareeba man fell to the ground and hit his head.
An off-duty nurse rendered assistance until paramedics arrived and the victim was taken to the Mareeba Hospital and stabilised before being flown to the Townsville hospital in a critical condition.
At around 11pm on Saturday officers located and arrested the 32-year-old Mareeba man at a Constance St address.
The 32-year-old man was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.
His bail was opposed, and he will appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court today.
