In January Cairns Airport chief executive Richard Barker told the Cairns Post there would be flights to Japan soon.

“Initially we expect three flights a week to Osaka and Tokyo and three also to Bali, with aircraft capacity still to be determined, it will depend on demand,” he said.

The Far North should expect some more visitors in the coming months. Singapore Airlines resumed flights to Cairns on March 28.

The carrier will operate a triweekly service until May 1. It is then expected to increase to five flights a week.
