Innisfail firefighters found kitten stuck in an outside toilet

Discovering the whereabouts of their kitten after it vanished from home over Christmas was just the start of the problem for one Far North family.

THE Innisfail Fire Station received an unusual call on Monday, when a kitten was found stuck down a toilet.

Station officer Scott Dewar said they rescued the cat from an outdoor long drop toilet.

“We were called out to (rescue) a cat that had fallen into an outdoor loo. The toilet hadn’t been used for a long time so it was all dry,” he said.

“We were able to assess the situation well and use a rope in a lasso type situation, putting it around the cat and pulling her out pretty quickly without any damage to the cat.”

Mr Dewar said the kitten went missing on Boxing Day and was found the next day which made the owners happy the kitten was found.

“It was a happy ending. Everyone was ecstatic especially the young lady that they found the cat for,” he said.

“She was very glad to have her kitten back.”

Mr Dewar said firefighters Mark Lawrence and Alan Baird did an excellent job rescuing the kitten.
