FNQ airline Skytrans flies 2.8 tonnes of food to Doomadgee after flooding cuts roads

When flooding and severe weather made the roads to a Far North Queensland community impassable, Skytrans loaded up tonnes of fresh food supplies to transport by air.

A Cairns airlines has flown in more than two tonnes of food to a Far North town after severe weather made roads impassable earlier this week.

Skytrans sales and marketing manager Campbell Wilson said the airline was part of an effort which had seen around seven tonnes of food transported at various locations in the Cape.

He said the Skytrans team has been busy on Saturday loading food supplies heading to the Doomadgee community.

“Skytans will have sent 2.8 tonnes of fresh food supplies to Doomadgee this week,” he said.

“The runways has been open so we have been able to land.”

Feedback from the Far North community has been positive.
