Emergency crews search for car caught in flood waters in Cairns

Emergency crews have found the car that was reportedly washed away in floodwaters in Cairns.

Emergency crews have found the car that was reportedly washed away in floodwaters in Cairns Wednesday morning.

Authorities were called to Kamerunga at Lower Freshwater Road around 6.40am after a car was reported to have been swept up in floodwaters following heavy rain.

At 7am, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said two crews, including a swift water rescue team, were on scene and one was on route but the car was yet to located.

A QFES spokeswoman confirmed the car was found 7.30am with no passengers inside the vehicle and all crews had now left the scene.

Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance services also attended.
