Eight teenagers arrested in connection with multiple car thefts in Cairns
Eight teenagers have been arrested in connection with a series of alleged car thefts spanning eight months across Far North Queensland.

Eight teenagers have been arrested in connection with a series of alleged car thefts spanning eight months, across Far North Queensland.
Four teenage girls were arrested after allegedly driving a stolen car erratically across Cairns, with one of the girls suspected of being involved in multiple car thefts since October.
Police allege the girls, three 15 year olds and one 16 year old, stole a Toyota RAV4 from a Sheridan Street address on Thursday, January 9.
It’s further alleged, the group then drove the vehicle “erratically” across Cairns the following morning.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the incident occurred between Cairns and Edmonton.
“Four teenage girls have been arrested following an incident between Cairns and Edmonton on Friday morning,” she said.
One of the girls was arrested after she left the vehicle in Winkworth Street just after 9.30am, on Friday.
The remaining three were taken into custody shortly after the vehicle was dumped in Badilla Street, Edmonton.
The 15-year-old girl, who authorities alleged to have been involved with previous vehicle theft, dating back to October last year, has been charged with a number of offences.
She has been charged with three counts of stealing, two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, and one count each of dangerous operation of vehicle, and possess drug utensils.
The 15-year-old has been remanded in custody to reappear before Cairns Childrens Court on Wednesday, January 15.
Additionally two of the girls have been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle.
While one of the girls has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of vehicle, unlawful use of motor vehicle, and unsupervised learner.
These three girls are also due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court on Wednesday, January 15.
In a separate incident four boys, two aged 14-years-old, one aged 16-years-old, and one aged 17-years-old, have also been charged across the weekend.
The boys are alleged to have been involved in several incidents at different locations, from May of last year to Saturday, January 11.
The teens have been charged with a total of 31 charges, including eight counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, five counts of enter dwelling, and seven counts of stealing among the charges.
The boys are all due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court on Wednesday, January 15.
