Detectives have charged a Cairns man following an alleged violent domestic incident in Bungalow on Wednesday.
At 8am on July 19, the 35-year-old man allegedly strangled a 30-year-old woman before punching her in the face.
It will be further alleged the man kicked and damaged a police vehicle door and assaulted an officer at the Cairns Watchhouse.
Detectives from the Far Northern Domestic Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Unit charged the man with one count each of strangulation, assault occasioning bodily harm, and common assault all linked to domestic violence, and one count of wilful damage to police property.
He appeared in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody.
The man will now reappear before court on August 15.
