Cairns paramedics attend two vehicle crash, police dog squad track alleged young offenders

Emergency services attended a two-vehicle crash in Cairns while the dog squad separately tracked down a group of alleged young offenders.

Far North emergency services were busy overnight with a number of incidents including paramedics attending a two-vehicle crash and the police dog squad tracking down four alleged young offenders.

A Queensland Ambulance representative said paramedics attended a two-vehicle crash at Smithfield on the Captain Cook Highway and Kamerunga Road at 6.29pm.

A female patient in her 40s with neck pain was transported in a stable condition to Cairns Hospital.

Four other occupants were assessed at scene, with no serious injuries reported and none transported to hospital.

Meanwhile, police reported that four youths have been charged in relation to an alleged break and enter, around midnight at Westcourt.

Police said the youths allegedly forced entry into a McCoombe Street unit, which disturbed the resident who called triple-0.

Police said a 13-year-old Whitfield boy was charged with one count of enter dwelling with intent by break and two counts of stealing, in relation to two alleged fuel drive offs that occurred on November 14 and December 17, 2022.

Three Mooroobool boys aged 13, 14 and 17-years-old, were charged with one count of enter dwelling with intent by break.

All four boys will appear in Cairns Children’s Court.
