What was meant as a loving surprise has turned into heartbreak for a Far North mum after her partner planned a road trip to the Tablelands but never arrived.

On Sunday morning, Monique Anderson made a heartfelt plea for information on the whereabouts of her partner Stuart Perkins following his departure from Cairns on Saturday afternoon, bound for Ravenshoe aboard his Yamaha Road Star motorbike.

Ms Anderson said she and her family searched the area at the top of the range desperately looking for any sign of her 32-year-old partner.

“We called the police and made a report, and called the hospitals to check to see if he was there,” Ms Anderson posted to social media.

“After spending hours with his family driving all directions from the Gillies Range all the way to where I am, we were, unfortunately, unable to find him or find his bike or get any new information on his whereabouts.”

Later on Sunday morning, police discovered the Westcourt plumber by the side of the road, about 2km from Millaa Millaa Malanda Rd.

According to initial police investigations Mr Perkins was travelling on East Evelyn Rd near the McHugh Lookout where his motorcycle left the road.

Police located Mr Perkins dead at the scene close to 9am on Sunday.

The back road linking Millaa Millaa and Ravenshoe in parts is very windy and is known for steep drop offs.

Mr Perkins is the sixteenth person to die on Far North roads this year, a significant reduction on the 28 killed at the same time last year.

Throughout the state 67 motorcycle riders have been killed on the roads this year, which amounted to a 9.8 per cent increase on the 61 lives lost to November 6, 2022.

The death of Mr Perkins follows a car crash that claimed the lives of Tallen ‘Trumby’ Fox, 25, and Margaret Carbine, 46, in a single vehicle rollover on the Mulligan Highway near Lakeland on Wednesday.
