A FAR North businesswoman who lost thousands of dollars from a break-in that also damaged the CBD store has revealed how scared she is to even go to the bathroom at her own workplace.

Tammy Nails Spa and Beauty owner Thi Be Nguyen said she was broken into twice on the same weekend, once on the Friday and then again on the Monday.

“We had not fixed it yet but we put something to protect the glass and then on Monday they had already broken the door a second time,” Ms Nguyen said.

The store was broken into with a big rock that did a lot of damage. But it wasn’t just the damage, they also targeted her EFTPOS machine.

“They took the EFTPOS machine, transferred money out and took $2200 from the account,” she said.

“After a couple of days, I had to order a new EFTPOS machine and I paid $500.

“Now, at night when I sleep I get worried it’s going to happen again. I always check the camera.”

But Ms Nguyen said she always saw youths lingering outside the Abbott St shop which even made her worried to go to the bathroom outside.

Her staff member May Her said the people lingering got really close to the shop sometimes.

“They try and get close to the guests and I am very scared,” Ms Her said.

“When we go to the toilet in the night-time I get my colleague to come with me because it’s all so scary.

“That’s why we keep the security number close. We are all so scared.”

Ms Her said the problem first started with some people looking at their pamphlets.

“They take all of them from outside and they throw it in the shop. It hit Tammy once and everywhere in the shop,” she said.

They are not the only ones worried. Parramatta Park man Jay Toro had an uneasy feeling after he found a chair up against his fence making him realise the house had been staked out.

“We’ve got some great neighbours, so I know someone has put it in the corner of my fence in the backyard, so they can see in,” Mr Toro said.

“My place would definitely be on a hit list for them now. Me being a person by myself and with another person in the house. I have to worry about their wellbeing.”

The experience has really annoyed Mr Toro.

“It makes me really angry because the fact I do have belongings here and I have worked hard for my property and the stuff I enjoy,” he said.

It makes my partner fearful of her being here by herself because I am on night shifts. That’s why I have my dog outside at all times to make her feel safer.”
