Treaty plans revealed in $300m spend
Now in its 12th year, Australia’s premier Indigenous Art Fair will be a hybrid of physical events held at the refurbished Cairns Convention Centre and online happenings
CIAF’s First Nations Patron, Henrietta Marrie, said the event is the ultimate platform for artists, especially going online again after the success of last year.
“It’s really the quality of work and a market place where you get a lot of emerging artists coming into CIAF and I believe this year going into the video and filming area is certainly quite an expansion,” said Ms Marrie.
CIAF Artistic director Janina Harding said the stories behind the artwork are incredible.
“I could not believe some of the stories they are telling, through their paintings and through their sculptures, they are very deep and moving,” said Ms Harding.
Cairns MP Micheal Healy, said CIAF was for all of Queensland.
“We know this is about building careers, it’s (also) about building opportunities,” he said.
