A Cairns tour operator taking visitors through some of the region’s most beautiful canyons and waterfalls is aiming to “take on the big guys” as they expand their offering into the city and rainforest.

A Cairns tour operator taking visitors through some of the region’s most beautiful canyons and waterfalls is aiming to “take on the big guys” as they expand their offerings into the city and rainforest.
Cairns Canyoning and Cairns Waterfalls have expanded their operations to include Barefoot Tours and the Ultimate Party Bus, under the new banner Experience True Adventure.
“We are pretty stoked to be able to bring in Barefoot Tours and expand our capabilities,” ETA co-owner Bazz Goes said.
“We have diverted from just canyoning and waterfalls into transport and more so we can entertain our visitors from dawn to dusk.”
Mr Goes said with the expansion they have been able to grow from a staff of just five to over 20 employees.
“We are able to bring so much more great talent on board,” he said.
“It means that we can keep people who we may not have been able to give enough hours to before so we are pretty excited about that potential.”
Mr Goes hopes to challenge the bigger operators in the region.
“The love in the blood is to compete up there with the big guys and we can do that by expanding into the community,” he said.
“We want to show people a great time in the rainforest and in the city.”
Mr Goes said while tour numbers have been good the return of international tourism is still not fully complete after Covid.
“It [the market] has been a bit shy,” he said.
“We have seen plenty of people coming to the region but maybe a bit less heading into the rainforests and spending on tours but as a small business we are still doing really well.
“Everyone loves the tropics especially during this time with our mild winters but there is still so much to do when we head into spring especially when the waterfalls are going off.”
Mr Goes said that the future looks promising with international markets returning.
“The European market are doing their thing like always but there is a lot of excitement out of the Indian market.”
