A young Cairns man has been killed after his vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a creek in the early hours of Friday morning.

A young Cairns man has been killed after his vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a creek.
Police stated early on Friday morning a white Kia Carnival was travelling southbound on Bicentennial Road when it left the roadway and crashed down a ravine into Bana Gindarja Creek.
Emergency services were called to the crash site however nothing could be done for the sole occupant of the vehicle who was discovered dead at the scene.
The driver was a 24-year-old from Bentley Park.
The Forensic Crash Unit is currently investigating the timing and circumstances of the crash, and are appealing for anyone who saw the vehicle around 1.20am on Friday morning in the Edmonton and Bentley Park areas to come forward.
The Bentley Park man is the eighth person to die on Far North roads this year.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
