A teenager has been attacked by a shark at one of northern NSW’s most popular beaches.
The boy was bitten while in the water off Cabarita Beach at about 3.45pm on Sunday, receiving arm and hand injuries.
It is understood fellow surfers came to his aid and created a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.
NSW Ambulance crews were on scene treating the boy, who was to be flown to hospital by the Westpac rescue helicopter.
It is not known what kind of shark injured the boy.
Cabarita Beach has previously been the location of several shark-related injuries.
