Victorian cop charged with sexual assault in Sydney
A Melbourne police officer has been charged over an alleged sexual assault of a woman at a Sydney hotel.

A Victorian police officer will face a sexual assault charge in NSW following an appearance in court on Wednesday.
In a statement, NSW Police revealed a 32-year-old Victorian officer has been charged with sexual intercourse without consent for an alleged incident at a Sydney hotel in March.
The police officer has been granted bail in Melbourne to face a NSW court on Thursday.
The officer was off duty at the time of the alleged offending.
In the statement, a NSW Police spokesperson said a strike force was set up to investigate the alleged sexual assault of a 38-year-old woman in a hotel room in Surry Hills last month.
Surry Hills detectives led the investigation.
On Tuesday, the Victorian police officer’s house was searched in Melbourne’s northeast.
He was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, the statement read.
NSW Police applied for extradition. The police officer was granted conditional bail and is expected in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.
