An Australian DJ has been sleeping in a transit room in Ho Chi Minh Airport after making a huge mistake while heading to Dubai.

An Australian DJ has shared his shocking overseas experience after a critical mistake stranded him in an airport in Vietnam.

Sydney-based DJ Levi Neufeld took to social media this week to reveal he had been sleeping in a transit room in Ho Chi Minh Airport..

He had been on his way to Dubai to DJ an event but had a stop-over in India.

In an Instagram video, Mr Neufeld said he had been stranded after a promoter forgot to apply for a transit visa for India.

Mr Neufeld was told he was barred from boarding his connecting flight to the UAE and was sent back to Vietnam.

In a video, Mr Neufeld said the experience had “mentally effected”, and that his passport had been taken.

“Reality has really set in,” he said

“I’ve missed out on headlining and djing a huge gig in Jordan.

“I’m stuck in a foreign airport. I have to spend a whole extra day here.

“I just want to see my missus and my dog, and have a shower.

“It's really affecting my mental health today.”

Mr Neufeld is best known for his brief stint on The Voice as the “hot door guy”, and more recently appeared as Brent Vitiello’s best man on TV show Married At First Sight.

In subsequent videos, he described repeated delays as he awaited his plane in a packed departure terminal, and even rated the airport’s food in a bid to stay optimistic.

Late on Wednesday, Mr Neufeld posted for the last time before boarding his plane back to Australia.

He told his followers he still did not have his passport, and urged people to wish him luck.

He jokingly compared himself to Tom Hank’s character in the film The Terminal.

The film is inspired by Iranian refugee Mehran Karimi Nasseri’s 18-year stay in a French airport.

Nasseri was stranded in Charles de Gaulle Airport after fleeing anti-regime protests in Iran in 1977.
