Police investigate after woman falls from balcony following alleged assault

A woman has fallen from a balcony following an alleged assault.
Emergency services were called to a Sydney unit complex in Waterloo after reports of an assault about 6pm on Sunday night.
A 31-year-old woman is believed to have fallen from an upper level into the courtyard of a ground level unit on John Street.
According to NSW Police the woman was able to walk away from the incident but was found by a member of the public on George Street about an hour later with head injuries.
The bystander called emergency services and the woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene.
She was then taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
Shortly after a 35-year-old woman presented to the same hospital stating she had also fallen from a balcony in Waterloo.
Investigations into whether the two incidents are related reman ongoing.
The NSW Ambulance spokesperson said they received reports within about an hour of the first incident that a woman in her 30s who had been drinking jumped off a wall and sustained injuries to her back.
She was transported to St Vincent’s hospital from Cope St in Waterloo.
Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
