Picnic Point boat ramp: Man’s body found in Sydney’s Georges River

A man’s body has been pulled from a Sydney river, a week after locals reported hearing a voice crying for help.

A body has been recovered from a river in Sydney's southwest, more than a week after a man’s voice was heard calling for help.

NSW Police were called to Georges River off Picnic Point about 11.25am on Monday following reports a body had been found.

Officers recovered the remains of a man and police will prepare a report for the coroner, a spokesman said.

The discovery comes eight days after NSW Police appealed for information following reports a man was “heard calling for help” at the same location.

The man pulled from the river is yet to be formally identified and police have not confirmed if it was the man feared missing.

Emergency services were called to the Picnic Point boat ramp about 10.50pm on Saturday, August 10, after triple-0 callers raised welfare concerns.

Police on boats and in a helicopter were seen scouring the area the following day, while an unoccupied boat and black Mercedes sedan were found at the scene.
Police divers were also seen on site.
