NSW Police investigate fatal crash in Blue Mountains

Police believe the pedestrian was killed instantly after being hit by a truck in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a truck in the Blue Mountains.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Evans Lookout Rd, at Blackheath, about 2.30am on Saturday.

Police believe the pedestrian died instantly.

The truck driver, a 68-year-old man, was taken to Katoomba Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command have set up a crime scene as part of their investigation.

The Great Western Highway was closed in both directions for several hours but has since reopened.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from early Saturday morning is urged to call 1800 333 000.
