Multiple businesses in Sydney’s west destroyed by a huge industrial fire

Six light industrial businesses in Sydney’s west have been completely destroyed by fire after a massive blaze tore through the area.

Multiple businesses have been completely gutted by a huge industrial fire that swept through adjoining units on Friday.

Fire and Rescue NSW received numerous triple-0 calls about a fire at a light industrial business on Kaleski Street in Moorebank, in Sydney’s west about 2.10pm.

When crews were on their way they reported seeing large volumes of smoke coming from the area and requested more resources.

When they arrived there was a significant fire in one of the six units, and they called for more fire crews.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said there were 26 firetrucks and 100 firefighters battling the blaze.

“They immediately began attacking the fire from multiple sides,” the spokesman said.

“There were two aerial support crews tackling the fire from above, the priority was to stop the fire from spreading to other premises.”

Despite their efforts, the fire could not be contained and all six units at the site were severely damaged by the blaze as it spread to the adjoining premises.

The spokesman said crews were still on site working to put the flames out and there were no reported injuries.

“We don’t know what the cause is at this stage,” the spokesman said.

“While the smoke has died down there is still a lot in the area, residents nearby should shut their doors and windows.”

A police spokesperson said they are on the scene directing traffic and would remain until it was established whether or not it was a crime scene.
