A 45-year-old man has been charged with domestic violence, murder and arson after the body of a Queensland mum was found inside a burnt out home.

A man has been charged with murder after a Queensland mother’s body was discovered in a horrific house fire.

Cameron Hunt, 45, was assisting police with their investigation into the “suspicious” blaze after the body of Louise Hunt was discovered in the burnt out home on Tuesday.

Emergency services rushed to the Strack Rd residence in Geham, 150km west of Brisbane, about 2.50am to find the property engulfed in flames and badly damaged.

During a search of the property Ms Hunt’s body was found, her remains have not been formally identified.

Two young children were also found unharmed near the house.

Mr Hunt was located by police at a Redcliffe address more than two hours away on Tuesday afternoon.

Police confirmed a 45-year old man has since been charged with murder, domestic violence and arson following an investigation.

Detective Superintendent George Marchesini told media it was a “terrible situation” and their investigation would focus on people who resided at the house and other people that could have been there.

“We are trying to establish and make contact with any other persons that may have been there,” he said.

“It’s a terrible situation when you have an incident like this.”

Operation X-ray Geo has been established with detectives from the Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch and the Homicide Investigation Unit.

Mr Hunt is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
