A candidate running in the federal election has been praised for his heroic actions saving the life of a man who was trapped inside a car involved in a horrific crash.
The incident unfolded on Roberts Rd in Greenacre, in Sydney’s west, when a vehicle rolled several times before it slammed into a tree about 7.30am on Wednesday.
The 43-year-old driver of the car was trapped inside the car with back and arm injuries before emergency services arrived to free him.
Independent candidate for Watson Dr Ziad Basyouny witnessed the horrific crash and jumped in to action to save the driver’s life, Mohammad Assoum said on social media.
The fellow doctor praised the Dr Basyouny’s actions on social media saying he “proved to be the man we need.”
“People ahead of him we’re telling him that the person inside the car had died,” Dr Assoum said on Instagram.
“He jumped into emergency medical mode.”
Dr Assoum said the Watson candidate rushed towards the car and found the man was still alive but in a critical condition.
He helped SES and emergency services rescue the driver then provided medical support to ambulance crews as they secured the patient for urgent transport.
“During this upcoming election, ask yourself do you want an MP who is never there? Or do you want an MP who jump into the chaos in order to save a life?” Dr Assoum posted.
“The choice is clear.”
Dr Basyouny has been contacted for comment.
