A couple of cheeky campers were spotted in the middle of a lewd act in a tent on a popular NSW beach.
Captured red-handed inside their grey tent at a public beach in Byron Bay in northern NSW, the couple were getting busy while unassuming people walked past.
The video, which was uploaded online, shows the mostly empty beach, apart from a large grey tent stationed near the edge of the sand, with a couple of people inside.
Judging by their silhouettes, it appears they were doing a little more than laying down a towel or applying sunscreen.
Performing sexual acts in public is illegal in Byron Shire Council, but it hasn’t stopped one beach from being particularly infamous for being a “hotspot” for public sex among tourists and locals.
There are five beaches in NSW that allow nudity, though none of them are in the Byron Bay area.
Tyagarah Beach was the last remaining nudist beach in Byron Bay, but it was stripped of its “clothing optional” status in August after years of complaints about people getting intimate in public.
People caught performing a sexual act or exposing themselves in an obscene way in public can face a fine of $1100 and cop up to six months in jail for public indecency.
Online, people had mixed reactions to the frisky couple, with some arguing it was “embarrassing” and others slamming them for choosing a spot without “much privacy”.
“I bet it’s a million degrees in there,” one person said.
