NT Police investigate alleged theft at Katherine service station

Police are on the hunt for a large group of youths who allegedly threw rocks at security before robbing a service station. Read the latest Top End crime news.

July 3: NT Police are calling for information after a large group of youths allegedly took part in an aggravated burglary at a Katherine service station.

A large group of youths allegedly unlawfully entered a service station on Katherine Terrace about 2.35am on Sunday.

The group allegedly broke a window to gain entry, but fled the scene when security arrived.

They returned a short time later and allegedly threw rocks at the security vehicle, forcing the security personnel to leave the area.

The group then returned to the service station and allegedly stole multiple items before fleeing the scene on foot.

Acting Senior Sergeant Stephen Jones said Strike Force Cerberus was currently investigating following the incident.

“This type of behaviour is unacceptable,” he said.

“Katherine police are and will work tirelessly to identify and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.”

Jingili shop targeted in ram raid with stolen car

July 3: Police are appealing for information after a Jingili business was ram raided with a stolen car.

An NT Police spokesman said the Jingili Tce business was targeted about 4.50am Tuesday.

The spokesman alleged the alleged offenders used a white Toyota SUV to ram through the store’s shutter doors and caused “extensive damage”.

He said it was unknown if anything was stolen from the shop as of 8.10am Tuesday.

The spokesman urged anyone with information to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference number P24176665.

Kentucky Fried Crime: Takeaway outlet hit by thieves

July 2: Two children have been arrested after they allegedly broke into a popular takeaway outlet in the midst of Territory Day chaos.

An NT Police spokesman at 10.12am Tuesday said the boys – aged 11 and 12 – were arrested at the Bagot Rd KFC.

The spokesman said the pair was taken to a responsible adult and would be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

Northern Watch Commander Clinton Stewart said the children had allegedly gained access to the unstaffed outlet by smashing through glass panels.

He said it was unclear what had been stolen.
