A man has been stabbed in the chest and a 14-year-old girl in the arm have been stabbed at a Top End bus depot, with two men now in custody and investigations continuing.
Northern Watch Commander Travis Edwards said officers responded to the incident at Casuarina bus depot about 2.45pm on Tuesday that ended with the arrest of two men.
As at Tuesday morning the men, aged 33 and 45, are yet to be charged.
Both are alleged to have been in possession of knives at the time of the incident.
Police say a 27-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl were injured at the scene.
It is alleged the teenage girl received a stab wound to her arm, while the 45-year-old is alleged to have stabbed the 27-year-old in the upper chest.
Police said both were taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment and they remain there in a stable condition.
On social media, videos and pictures posted to Facebook showed multiple police at the bus depot Tuesday afternoon.
This is the second incident in less than a week involving the use of an edged weapon at the Casuarina bus interchange.
Last Friday evening a young teenager received stab wounds to her neck after allegedly being set upon at the bus interchange.
Police said they are concerned by the level of violence occuring at the bus interchange.
“These are very serious incidents,” NT police assistant commissioner Janelle Tonkin said at a media press conference on Wednesday morning.
“I’m aware of other serious incidents over recent days involving edged weapons.
“As you would be aware police have new powers to conduct wanding operations and we have been doing that at Casuarina interchange and at Palmerston.
“We work very closely with transit officers and security officers that are contracted to provide additional assistance into the Casuarina Shopping Centre.
“We are particularly concerned about the carriage of edged weapons.
“We will continue to deploy resources and work with transit safety officers to ensure that people are not carrying edged weapons and that the interchange and the bus network is safe for Territorians.”
