One of Brisbane’s newest dining and lifestyle precincts will be taken over by rum lovers this weekend as a festival, never-seen-before in Australia, hits the city.
Albion’s Craft’d Grounds will host The Rum Revolution, the country’s biggest rum festival, on Saturday from 1-6pm with more than 40 distilleries and 100 rums being showcased at the one venue.
The event, organised by Vish Uttam from the Brisbane Rum Club, will also feature live music, pop-up bars, food trucks, masterclasses, boutique cocktails for an evening of “entertainment and indulgence in our local rum culture”.
“I’ve been running the Brisbane Rum Club for six years now, organising events and masterclasses over the years, culminating in this festival, the biggest event we’ve ever done,” Mr Uttam said.
“With over 40 distilleries and 100 rums in one venue, it’s something that’s never been done before here in Australia.
“This festival is to showcase our proud history of rum and how we believe it is the next spirit category to really take off.”
The festival is also a major event for host, Craft’d Grounds, after the venue opened last year and also recently launched a new brewery, Brewtide, and coffee roaster, Seven Miles.
“Craft’d Grounds is a new venue with an amazing indoor and outdoor capacity with the love of organising events,” Mr Uttam said.
Mr Uttam said he would also be launching Australia’s first rum membership on Saturday, called The Rum Runner, and will be organising the country’s first rum awards for later this year.
Craft’d Grounds is located at 31/37 Collingwood St, Albion.
Tickets to The Rum Revolution are $89 and can be purchased here.
