Croc enthusiasts have taken to social media to debate whether a unique snap of a croc jumping on land is real. Have your say.

Jumping croc cruises are an iconic feature of the Northern Territory, but it’s not everyday one of the giant reptiles take a leap through the bush.

Adelaide River Cruises shared a unique snap of a saltie launching itself into the air from its position on the dry ground.

“Australian saltwater crocodiles are not only strong swimmers but can also use their tails to propel themselves powerfully off the ground,” a spokesperson for the company wrote on Facebook.

“These impressive reptiles demonstrate remarkable strength and agility both in and out of water.”

Adelaide River Cruises shared a photo of a croc jumping on land.

The social media post stunned croc fans and wildlife lovers, with many speculating over whether the epic shot was real.

“In all the time I’ve spent working with crocodiles, I have never seen that happen before,” one user wrote.

“We see so many videos of crocs feeding on land where the feeder holds the food over the croc’s head high off the ground and not once do they ever jump like this.”

But the tour group’s spokesperson defended the snap from the disbelieving viewers.

“These are wild, predatory, energetic crocs,” they wrote.

“Crocs are very intelligent – in captivity, they know the feed will come eventually.

“Minimum output for maximum gain.”
