A woman has been fined for holding her daughter’s toy Bluey phone while driving in inner west Sydney.

The woman was caught by a mobile phone camera on the Princes Highway between Brodie Spark Drive and Holbeach Ave in Tempe — in the city’s inner west — at 7.29am on February 10.

She told Nine she was sent a fine in the mail for $362 and five demerit points.

It was when she requested the photos taken by the hi-tech cameras that she realised she was not holding a mobile, but her daughter’s toy featuring characters from the popular children’s series.

The phone is recommended for children aged three to six.

Tara McCarthy, deputy secretary safety environment and regulation, Transport for NSW told news.com.au that these type of incidents are “unusual”.

“Transport for NSW will work with Revenue NSW to review the infringement,” she said. “If Revenue NSW decides the fine should stand, the driver may elect to ahve the matter dealt with at court.”
