Perth motorist killed after twin crashes on Kewdale Rd

A man has died after he was hit by a car while walking away from a second frightening crash.

New approach needed to improve road safety

A motorist killed after being run down near a busy Perth highway was walking away from the site of a second crash only moments earlier.

Emergency services were called to Kewdale Rd in the city’s east on Sunday after reports a silver Ssangyong Kyron station wagon had struck a barrier near the Tonkin Highway off-ramp shortly after 7pm.

WA Police believe the driver – a 30-year-old man – left his car and was walking down the exit ramp to the Tonkin Highway when he was struck by a second white Toyota Camry sedan.

The man sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital by ambulance paramedics, but he died soon after.

The driver of the second vehicle, a man aged in his 20s, was not injured.

The major crash investigation unit is urging anyone who witnessed the crash or who might have dashcam footage to come forward.

Anyone who has any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
