The 46-year-old killed when he was allegedly hit by truck while riding his motorbike on the weekend had only recently rebuilt his home for his family.
Matthew Butcher’s daughter, Tneil, issued a plea for financial help online to cover the expenses of the man’s funeral after he died on Sydney’s northern beaches on Sunday morning.
Through a GoFundMe campaign, she said the family would struggle to pay the mortgage without their father’s income.
“He always said he wanted it to be a place where no matter where we go, there will always be a home for us all here,” Tneil said.
Mr Butcher was riding his “pride and joy” motorcycle on Barrenjoey Road at Palm Beach when he was struck by a truck and pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck was allegedly driven by a 29-year-old Queensland man who was not injured in the accident and arrested shortly after.
He was taken to the Northern Beaches Hospital to undergo mandatory drug and alcohol testing and charged with negligent driving causing death.
The man was refused bail and was due to face the Manly Local Court on Monday.
