Wild dashcam footage has captured the moment a car swerved onto the opposite side of the road, appearing to narrowly miss another vehicle in Victoria.
In footage released by Victoria Police, a black Holden Captiva can be seen driving down the opposite side of Penshurst-Warrnambool Road in Minhamite, over three hours from Melbourne, at 3.15pm last Saturday.
Police said it’s understood the car was attempting to overtake a truck on the single-lane road at the time.
In a terrifying close call, the car then appears to notice an oncoming vehicle, before completely swerving off the road and onto the nearby grassland.
Officers were told a Hyundai Getz had to take “evasive action to avoid hitting the Holden”.
“The Holden continued driving south towards Warrnambool,” police said in a statement.
Police have released footage of the incident said they are investigating a report of dangerous driving.
Police believe the driver may be able to assist with their inquiries.
