Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R recalled over missing brake components

It can quickly reach speeds few others can. But now this motorbike is being recalled for a potential problem with its brakes.

The new Kawasaki Ninja is a beast

Kawasaki’s Ninja ZX-14R is one of the most powerful production bikes on the market, exciting and terrifying motorcyclists in near equal measure, but there’s a brand new reason to be scared of the thing.

Product Safety Australia has issued a recall for the motorbike over an issue with its brakes.

“The front brake master cylinder may have components missing, which may interfere with the force applied when braking,” Product Safety Australia warns.

“This can result in a loss of brake performance,” which it says can, “increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to the rider and other road users.”

The brake issue is a concern, especially on a crotch rocket with an engine the size of some hatchbacks that accelerates faster than gravity and will go over 300km/h if its manufacturer allows it too.

“It’s a scary bike,” one adventure motorcycle forum user described. “Amazing but scary. Not just the ‘way too much power’ thing … it’s a licence eater for sure.”

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R will approach 300km/h and get there pretty quickly too.

Only 30 of the affected bikes (model year 2021) have been sold so far in Australia, but that was during a period of only around a month-and-a-half last year.

If you’re one of the people who was brave enough to buy a Ninja ZX-14R, contact your nearest Kawasaki dealer and they’ll arrange for inspection and repairs.
