Man in his 60s killed in boat crash near Brisbane Road bridge

A man in his 60s has died after his boat crashed in the middle of the night.

A man has died after his boat collided with a pylon overnight.

Queensland Police said initial investigations indicated a boat had struck a pylon near a bridge on Brisbane Rd in Mooloolaba at 12.25am on Sunday.

The sole occupant of the vessel, a man in his 60s, sustained critical injuries in the collision.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed they had assessed the man after the incident on the Sunshine Coast, but he was declared dead at the scene.

The man is yet to be formally identified.

Water police will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
