POPULAR Broadbeach hotspot Love Nightlife has a new owner after previous owners Tony Regis and Louise Huxham sold up after seven years.
At 25 years of age, Elliott Wicks has lived out the dream of owning his own nightclub.
Currently working in construction, Mr Wicks doesn’t have any experience in nightclubs, aside from attending, but said taking over ownership of the glamorous underground haunt was an easy decision.
“Love has been unlike any other club on the Gold Coast,” he said.
“It’s not your typical dance club or rave club — I call it a social club.
“Somewhere you can congregate with a large group of friends, sit down in the VIP booths and relax.
“We play popular music everyone can relate to, it’s not intimidating, not daunting at all.
“It’s a place you can absolutely lose time in.
“It’s incredible.”
Mr Wicks, whose family owns seafood and hotel giant Gambaro, said other than extending trading hours and welcoming locals he wouldn’t be making any drastic changes, believing the club is already a well-oiled machine.
“My vision for Love is I’d definitely like to see it expand trading hours, go from two nights a week to possibly four,” he said.
“I’m keen to get locals back in regularly and really reward them for being locals.
“A nightclub is like any other business, it’s all about the people you have work for you, policies and procedures in place.
“This club was set up right from the beginning and it’s a well-oiled machine.
“The previous owners did an amazing jobs and they showed me the ropes when I took over and shared their wealth of knowledge.”
