An Australian reality TV star has opened up about the terrifying moment she realised her identity had been stolen, leaving her stranded while on holidays in Lebanon.

Love Island’s Tayla Damir went through the nightmare experience — which she documented on Instagram — outlining how hackers had left her without any money in both her personal and business bank accounts.

The 22-year-old claimed she had been left without money, a phone or a way home after she was a victim of identity theft.

The 22-year-old told her 382k followers that her bank card had been stolen, and when her family tried to assist by depositing more money, it was taken again.

“I got an email saying a suspicious amount has come out of my personal account so I went onto my personal account and all of my money my family had just put in had been wiped,” she said in an Instagram story.

Ms Damir said throughout her struggle to get home, she claims the Australian Embassy failed to assist during her time of need.

“They have done absolutely nothing,” she claimed.

“I literally got told as a 22-year-old you are stranded in Lebanon with no money, not our problem, we’ll deal with it in the morning.

“I was so upset, bawling my eyes out in the embassy. It’s pretty scary to know that someone has stolen my identity.

Tayla said the hackers didn't break into her social media accounts.

“It’s so much harder when you’re on the other side of the world with people who don’t speak your language and you’re trying to deal with someone literally stealing your identity.”

Along with her bank card details, she claims her Australian SIM card and email profiles has also been hacked, however they were unsuccessful with trying to access her social media accounts.

Her family deposited a sum of money into her bank account to help her out of this dire situation.

On Thursday, Ms Damir announced on social media that she was back on home turf and “back to reality”.

“I had the most amazing trip, met some incredible people and made memories that will last a lifetime,” she wrote in a caption next to a bikini snap.

“I’ve landed back in Australia and God it feels good to be home safe”
