A man has been arrested after allegedly tampering with his co-worker’s drink, which was captured on a secret camera set up by her to catch the culprit in the act.

Joseph Ross, 34, was taken into custody in Milwaukee last week and has been charged with placing foreign objects into a woman’s Coca-Cola can at their workplace on the grounds of Wisconsin State Fair Park.

The woman, identified as ‘JH’ in a criminal complaint, began to suspect that her cola was being contaminated after she noticed a “strong chemical smell and taste” and fell ill after drinking it, as reported by Fox6.

She then installed a surveillance camera hidden beneath her computer monitor to determine if anyone was adding something to her beverage, according to the complaint.

After reviewing the footage, her worst fears were realised as she saw Ross allegedly pouring super glue into her drink from a small bottle with a white nozzle and then walking out of frame.

After making the shocking discovery, JH stopped the police who were in the area, relayed the information, and handed over the footage.

When interviewed, Ross reportedly admitted to “adding a supplement” to his co-worker’s drink.

Police report that while allegedly tampering with her drink, the 34-year-old wore clear latex gloves, which he later discarded.

Police obtained a warrant to search Ross’s office and found the gloves and Gorilla-branded superglue “wadded into a ball”.

“When the officers unravelled the gloves, the officers found that each contained an item,” said the police.

“One glove contained a blue plastic cap. The other glove contained a super glue container.”

The accused soft drink spiker was arrested and charged on Tuesday.

His bail has been set at $10,000 (approximately $15,894 AUD), and he could face up to 38 months in prison, according to TMJ4.

The motivations behind his actions are not known at this time.

“This is extremely alarming and definitely has elements of a lot of violence,” Commissioner Andrea Bolender stated during Ross’s virtual Milwaukee County Court hearing on Wednesday.

Wisconsin State Fair Park released a statement saying: “The two individuals involved were employed by a vendor and were not State Fair Park employees, therefore, we cannot comment on employment status.

“However, since this incident occurred while at State Fair Park, our police department responded, conducted a thorough investigation, and submitted the report to the District Attorney. Additionally, our police department has issued a ‘No Trespass Order’ to the individual being charged.

“While this incident did not happen between State Fair Park employees and did not involve any patrons, we want to reiterate that safety is top priority at State Fair Park, and we take these matters very seriously.”
