‘Utterly disgusted’: Lunden Stallings apologises for resurfaced racist tweets during honeymoon

A social media influencer has paused her honeymoon to address mounting backlash against her over a series of past racist tweets.

Influencer halts honeymoon to address racism claims

Social media influencer Lunden Stallings put a pause on her honeymoon to address the backlash mounting against her amid the resurfacing of a series of old, racist tweets.

The 26-year-old TikTok star, known for showing off her lavish lifestyle with now-wife Olivia Bennett, was called out shortly after her picturesque weekend wedding when a post on Reddit exposed tweets from more than a decade ago of her casual use of slurs.

The tweets appear to be dated between 2012 and 2014, the New York Post reports, with Stallings, a white woman, repeatedly using the n-word dozens of times.

“There’s been some tweets of mine that I learned about yesterday, back 10 to 12 years ago, that had resurfaced. That’s not who I am, [it’s] who I was as a teenager,” Stallings said in an apology video on her TikTok Story, backed by her wife.

“I just want to acknowledge and recognise that I am completely and utterly disgusted and ashamed and honestly embarrassed at how normal it was for me to speak that way on Twitter and for my friends and I to address each other that way or for me to sing along [to the word] in rap songs,” she said.

“That’s nobody else’s fault but mine.”

Stallings’s video, however, only garnered further backlash, with many claiming it was inappropriate to address such a scandal via her TikTok Story, which disappears after 24 hours.

Stalling and Bennett’s shared TikTok account, which has more than 703,000 followers, does not currently have any video addressing the apology.

One Reddit user rejected the apology, writing: “She was more than old enough to know better here, coupled with the fact that she had legit HUNDREDS of tweets dropping the N word. And she’s deleting every comment on her social media asking about it. What a disgrace.”

Another TikTok user summarised the problem with Stallings’s apology in her own now-viral video, which has been viewed more than 1.5 million times.

“If you’re willing to step up and accept your past and take accountability for your actions, you gotta take the heat,” the woman, who posts under the handle @nawalornoel, said.

“If you’re so ready to acknowledge all these things, you have to listen to what people have to say, especially when you have such a large following,” she added.

Stallings did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
