VISIONS of Upper Coomera for most people conjure up images of house-and-land packages.

But with the help of a reader who divulged this little gem, I’ve found a true slice of paradise.

Located on Gladrose Crescent, just a way off Kriedeman Road, this easement at the edge of a number of large properties is a beautiful way to while away the time on a weekend.

Or even during the week if you have a spare hour or two.

As you enter the street, you’ll spot a small gravel patch where you can park your car; you should see a green shed to your right, along with picturesque, overgrown Wongawallan Creek.

You might even find a cormorant sunning itself on a log or a pair of ducks paddling in the water.

This walk is a lovely place to take your dogs on leash (but don’t forget your dog bags — there’s no bins provided), taking you past two open fields fringed by large trees on one side, paddock fences on the other.

A friendly chestnut horse watched our every move as we walked past, curious of the long-legged pups.

This walk can be as short or as long as you like — it’s a long, long easement — and in the winter sun, it’s blissful.

You can hear the birds chirruping to each other and admire a few of the large gum trees along the walk. We also saw corellas flying overhead.

In the second field there is a tree in the middle of the open space, a perfect place for a picnic in peace.

So forget the hum of the city here, it’s a little slice of rural paradise.

IT is time to choose your own adventure.

Well, at the Gold Coast Wake Park anything you choose here will be an adventure, whether you decide to go wakeboarding, kneeboarding or play in their aqua park, really.

The Oxenford park, created by three-time world champion Daniel Watkins, caters for all abilities.

Though, if you’re not that keen on hitting the water with your mates, they also have the Wakeview Cafe to relax in, which offers breakfast and lunch.

The wake park is open Monday to Friday from midday to 5pm, and 8.30am-5pm on the weekend. Tickets start at $20 for the aqua park, and $39.95 for a one-hour wakeboarding session.

THIS cafe is geared towards “food for families” on the Gold Coast, offering a wide range of meals — including paleo.

In fact, it even has a small menu dedicated to its paleo foods for breakfast and lunch, including avocado and potato rosti, an omelette, zucchini fritters and a coconut chicken salas.

For those not watching their waistline, the cafe also offers a range of sandwiches, wraps, burgers and salads. And of course, it has its own kids menu, which includes pancakes and kids snack pack.

Open everyday from 7am.
