“Is this really how it’s packed?”
One ALDI shopper took to the ALDI Mums Facebook group to share a photo of a product they picked up.
“Is this really how it's packed? Or did I just get unlucky? 🤷🏻♀️” they said in the post.
The poster was referring to ALDI’s Taste Nation Homestyle Beef Patties 6pk, packaged in a cardboard box with nothing separating the six patties from one another.

“My germaphobia could never”
Commenters were quick to agree with the poster, calling the packaging ‘terrible’ and ‘horrible’.
“My germaphobia could never 🤢” one commenter said.
“Looks horrible,” another agreed.
“Nope that’s just how they are, I threw them out instantly,” said a third.
“They look terrible 🤮” said another.
“Nooo I hate this. Why do they have to do that,” a fifth said.
“Why do we think something in plastic is better or safer?”
However, fans of the patties backed them up, saying that not only is it standard for this particular product, but across other companies as well.
“Black and gold did them like that 20 years ago too. What do you want,” one commenter said.
“They remind me of the old school Black and Gold and Home Brand frozen burgers which were the best!” another agreed.
“That's how they have been for the last 25 years. Just insert a butter knife and twist it,” another suggested.
“Years ago that's how all beef patties were packed no plastic then so none now 👍” said another.
Others said that whilst it may not be the most aesthetically pleasing way to pack them, it may still be the best way.
“Why do we think something in plastic is better or safer? They're frozen and packed in a box as a frozen product. We call them dirty burgers and you know what, they're not bad in the air fryer at all.” one person said.
“I mean, people are always saying that there's too much single-use plastic involved in food packaging 🤷♀️😂” another agreed.
