The Oval Hotel’s Five Regions Restaurant in Adelaide, will close its doors in January

The Oval Hotel’s acclaimed fine dining restaurant has announced it will close its doors in favour of a “new private dining offering”.

The Adelaide Oval hotel’s fine dining restaurant will close its doors early next year in favour of a “new private dining offering”.

The Oval Hotel has announced it will shut its 40-seat Five Regions Restaurant, with degustation style menu, on January 13.

It will be replaced with a new private dining area that expands on the adjoining Bespoke Wine Bar & Kitchen, which is a more casual eatery.

Executive chef Daniel Simpson will remain and continue to oversee Bespoke and the hotel’s food and events menu.

“Three years ago, we launched Five Regions Restaurant with the intention of showcasing our South Australian wine regions to visitors from near and far, while also plating up some of the best degustation dining in the state,” said a post on Five Regions’ social media account.

“After many successful collaborations with outstanding wineries, accolades and awards, Chef’s Hats and reviews, we’re proud to say that we’ve done just that.

“In 2024, we’re changing up the @Ovalhotel dining experience and retiring the Five Regions Restaurant concept to make way for a new private dining offering.”

Bespoke and Five Regions Restaurant were unveiled in September 2020 as part of the $42m Oval Hotel development.

The venues replaced the Oval’s former restaurant, Hill of Grace.

Five Regions teamed up with a SA winery every two months, selecting five or six of its best bottles to create a unique, matching menu that also celebrates the food and landscape of the surrounding area.
