IF you’re looking for something that will make the hairs stand up tonight, then look no further than your very own backyard. We asked a paranormal expert to show us the most haunted places in the city that will make your skin crawl.

IF you’re looking for something that will make the hairs stand up this Halloween, then look no further than your very own backyard.

Behind the surface of the glitzy Gold Coast is a dark history were paranormal investigators search suburbs to bring the afterlife to life.

Paranormal expert Briar Ford from Paranormal Project shared what is believed to be the most haunted locations in the city that are sure to make your skin crawl.

ERNEST JUNCTION TUNNEL, MOLENDINAR

The 19th century South Coast Line railway first opened in 1889 and in 1903 was developed to run 75km from Brisbane to Tweed Heads.

The train stopped operating in 1964 but stories have started to emerge of visitors to the abandoned tunnel seeing a women with grey hair.

Another story from old articles is of a mother and son who, while travelling through the tunnel, went temporarily insane, which was diagnosed by a doctor.

While investigating the tunnel on numerous occasions, Paranormal expert Briar Ford has caught figures on camera, seen and smelled smoke and even heard loud static noise.

Mrs Ford said her team does tours through the tunnel quite often and they often pick up voices on a voice recorder.

“We asked questions to prompt a response. We asked if they were bought there and we got a clear voice come back on the recorder of a male saying yes,” she said.

“I’ve never been able to find any factual evidence of anyone dying there, but there’s been a lot of stories floating around.”

PIMPAMA RIVER

In the 1870s a timber cutter by the name of Dick Edwards lived in his cottage located on Pimpama River between Pimpama and Ormeau and locals believe he still haunts the river till this day.

One local went out in search for the man after he was missing and was found dead after he cut his own throat.

Mrs Ford said she wants to investigate the area after many people have reported they have seen his ghost by the river.

“The problem is it’s really hard to locate the exact location with all the new development,” she said.

THE OLD STONE HOUSE, MUDGEERABA

Nestled in the once remote Gold Coast Hinterland was a 1920s stone house that was knocked down in 2015, which many visitors claiming to have seen a ghostly figure.

The story is that the home was owned by a man who, when he returned from World War II, suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and murdered his family before killing himself.

The address is 999 Springbrook Road and Mrs Ford said people always call it the ‘devils house’ because upside down is the devil’s number 666.

“Supposedly, the house is haunted by a little boy who is believed to be his son,” Mrs Ford said.

“He is often said to be seen at the top of the stairs in the house by people who were going in and looking.”

“There is a lot of speculation and a lot of people seem to know about it.”

“We often gone to the place, even if the building has been knocked down, and still find things.”
