THE future is looking bright for thousands of Gold Coast students who received OP ranking on Saturday.
Half of the more than 9700 who graduated received results which pave their way to university.
Varsity College was one of the best performing schools in Queensland with 23 per cent of students receiving an OP 1 to 5.
QUEENSLAND STUDENTS WAKE TO A VISION OF FUTURE WITH OP SCORES
One graduate of Varsity College — Luca Guirguis — was anxious about his results but has just found out he received an OP 1.
“I’m really relieved that all the hard work has paid off,” he said.
“My parents were really happy and excited for me.”
Mr Guirguis plans on becoming a surgeon and hopes to be accepted into medicine at Griffith University.
Another two other students from Varsity College were also said to have received an OP 1.
For those who didn’t receive outstanding results, there are still options with other entry level applications into university, TAFE, or apprenticeships.
TAFE has more than 160 qualifications on offer for free to year 12 graduates.
94% of students achieved a QCE — which is 0.3 per cent higher than last year.
More than 21,300 students will received an OP between 1 and 15.
Postal results are due to start arriving in mailboxes on Monday.
