Tennis star Bernard Tomic is back on the Gold Coast easing his wrist pain with a new yellow Lamborghini

TENNIS star Bernard Tomic appears to be easing the pain of a troublesome wrist with a new fast car on the Gold Coast.

TENNIS star Bernard Tomic appears to be easing the pain of a troublesome wrist with a new fast car on the Gold Coast.

The world number 20 has been turning heads locally by tootling around the Gold Coast this week in a canary yellow Lamborghini with the numberplate “Only 1”.

He was seen parking it in Miami around lunchtime on Tuesday. The distinctive car has also been spotted around Surfers Paradise in the past week.

The Lamborghini Huracan is the Italian brand’s ‘most affordable model’, priced from $428,000 plus on-road costs.

The 23-year-old, who has career prizemoney earnings of more than around $6 million so far, is known for a love of fast cars.

In February, he boasted during a fun pre-tournament interview in the United States that he once drove at 352km/h. It was unclear whether he was joking or serious.

Asked in the same interview if he could buy any luxury item, he said it would be a Ferrari.

The last time Tomic played was two weeks ago at Indian Wells when he withdrew with chronic wrist pain halfway through his third round against Milos Raonic.

He revealed afterwards he intended to have scans.

It has troubled him since his Australian Open fourth round loss in January to eventual finalist Andy Murray

Despite the soreness, he played in the Australian team’s Davis Cup defeat to the United States earlier this month.

He had made a solid start to 2016 by reaching the semi-finals of the Brisbane International and making the final in Acapulco.

Bernie is no stranger to driving flashy yellow cars. He was pictured a few years ago at the wheel of a Ferrari.
