From the Aussie version of The Office to much-anticipated Binge drama High Country, these are the must-watch shows to look out for in the year ahead. See the list.

High Country (Binge)
Leah Purcell (The Drover’s Wife, The Lost Flowers Of Alice Hart) plays a detective investigating five missing person cases in a spinechilling, loosely-based-on-real-life thriller series set against the eerie backdrop of the Australian bush. This one is a must for mystery lovers. Streaming in early 2024.

I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! (Network 10 and 10Play)
No stranger to creepy-crawlies or the spotlight, wildlife warrior Robert Irwin replaces Dr Chris Brown as Julia Morris’ co-host in 2024. Premieres in March.

The Office Australia (Prime Video)
Viewers can be divided into two camps: those who love the original UK comedy starring Ricky Gervais and those who believe the American spin-off with Steve Carell is funnier. Now the debate is widened with the addition of comedian Felicity Ward, the boss of a packaging company on the brink of closure, in an Aussie take on The Office. Coming in 2024.

The Regime (Binge)
In this stunningly shot miniseries, Kate Winslet plays an impeccably dressed despot trying desperately to hold on to the last vestiges of her power in a fictional European country. Hugh Grant stars as the opposition leader, whose imprisonment triggers unrest and the arrival of the US Secretary of State (Martha Plimpton). Coming in 2024.

Ladies In Black (ABC TV and iview)
At the movies in 2018, director Bruce Beresford introduced us to a group of women working in a department store in the 1950s. This series takes us into that same world but with a new crew played by Debi Mazar (Younger), Miranda Otto (The Clearing) and Jessica De Gouw (The Couple Next Door). Coming in 2024.

Masters Of The Air (Apple TV+)

The dream team of Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg have once again come together to shed light on the heroes of World War II. This series, starring Elvis breakout Austin Butler, focuses on the brave troops who led bombing raids over Germany. Streaming January 26.

The Great Australian Bake Off (Foxtel)

Host Cal Wilson filmed the latest season of the cooking contest shortly before her death in October following a short illness. This heartwarming series will now serve as a fitting tribute to her warm wit and encouraging spirit. Coming in 2024.

Griselda (Netflix)

Modern Family’s Sofía Vergara is unrecognisable as Griselda Blanco in this gritty drama following the real-life crime figure’s ascent in Miami’s underworld. Doggedly determined and unafraid of violence, Blanco’s story makes for fascinating viewing. Streaming January 25.

Swift Street (SBS and SBS On Demand)

This series follows street-smart Elsie (Tanzyn Crawford), who discovers her old-school hustler father, Robert (Cliff Curtis), is being hunted down by a merciless crime boss over a bad debt. When she decides to help him, it sparks the beginnings of a reconciliation – and a dubious reign as partners in crime. Coming in 2024.

Dream Home (Seven Network and 7Plus)

Dr Chris Brown hosts this new renovation show where six everyday couples turn their humble homes into showstoppers, room-by-room. Coming in 2024.

Expats (Prime Video)

Set in 2014 within the dynamic city of Hong Kong, this six-part drama focuses on three American women – played by Nicole Kidman, Sarayu Blue and Ji-young Yoo – whose lives intersect after a family tragedy. Streaming January 26.

The Twelve (Binge)

Sam Neill returns as Brett Colby, a shrewd barrister who travels to rural Western Australia with his co-counsel, Meredith Nelson-Moore (Frances O’Connor), to take on a high-profile murder case. Much like the first season, this courtroom drama takes viewers inside the jury room, where we learn about the bias of those sitting in judgement. Coming in 2024.

Top Gear Australia (Paramount+)

An Aussie version of the popular UK format was first given a test drive back in 2008 on SBS. Can new hosts Beau Ryan, Jonathan LaPaglia and Blair Joscelyne recapture the energy and chemistry of the original? Coming in 2024.

Return to Paradise (ABC TV and iview)

The Death In Paradise franchise hits Australian shores with this spin-off about an Aussie ex-pat in the London Metropolitan police force who is forced to return to her hometown of Dolphin Cove – where she finds herself solving a lot of murders. Coming in 2024.

The Last Anniversary (Binge)

Based on the bestseller by Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers), this thriller stars Teresa Palmer as Sophie, a single woman who inherits a house on an island filled with secrets – and unwelcoming townsfolk. Coming in 2024.
