Parents are stunned at a beloved principal at one of the city’s most prestigious schools abruptly resigning.
Earlier today it was confirmed Dr Julie Wilson Reynolds resigned as principal from St Hilda’s School in Southport.
A St Hilda’s parent told the Bulletin the news was a shock and unforeseen.

“My daughter has been there for years and our daughter has never done better at school. She has thrived and loves the principal,” the parent said.
“We are devastated. I love the place myself. I’ve just said to my husband ‘What has gone on? This is out of the blue’.”
Last year, Dr Wilson Reynolds helped to curb cyber bullying in an innovative way by gifting an alarm clock to boarders and day students who agreed to give up technology at night.

“We find from time to time text messages that are sent late at night are less than positive so we were talking to girls about how we might address this, and came up with this solution,” Dr Wilson Reynolds said at the time.

“I told the students I would buy them an alarm clock. They just had to email me to tell me how they are ensuring they aren’t using technology at night.’’
In a letter sent to parents earlier today, the Anglican Schools Commission thanked her for her work, writing that she had led the school to achieve record success at the Head of River rowing competition and supported the students to “feel confident and empowered.”
