SEAFOOD fans missing their The Fish House fix can curb their cravings at a new Broadbeach restaurant.
The popular Burleigh eatery closed in February 2020 to make way for a high-rise development, but former head chef Damien Styles has resurfaced at Sofia’s Restaurant & Bar.
While The Fish House favourite Patagonian toothfish hasn’t made the menu cut, diners can dive into freshly shucked Sydney rock oysters, kingfish crudo, grilled Mooloolaba king prawns and whole John Dory.

“Drawing on flavours from costal European cuisine, we will be serving simple, fresh seafood and salumi,” Mr Styles said.
The restaurant, in The Oasis Broadbeach Shopping Centre, is owned by Henry Hunt, who left high-end hospitality roles with Merivale and Seagrass to move to the Gold Coast last year.
“Since living on the Gold Coast I have been fortunate enough to meet some truly excellent suppliers and representatives (who have) played a large part in bringing Sofia’s to life,” he said.
“I wanted to ensure we created a venue on the Gold Coast which was truly unique … from our open kitchen, to the wood-fired bread and high-quality European meats and cheeses, to our beautiful bar where all juices, syrups and even our limoncello are made in-house.”
While The Fish House owner Ronnie Tarabay had previously hinted at a second life for The Fish House in a new location, the high-profile Brisbane businessman and property developer is now helming a Mobile IV Drip business.
