“This keeps happening. The kids have been locked down enough. If they test negative, then send them back to school.”

Judd – who has been outspoken about her views on Victoria’s handling of the pandemic – also said: “We have to do better.”

The state recorded one of the world’s longest lockdowns, with children staying home for 272 days between March 2020 until Victoria’s reopening last month.

However, the state government website states closures may still arise as a result of Covid-19 outbreaks, sending kids home and mandating families complete isolation periods.

The original post details a mother’s struggle at her child being “locked up”, despite testing negative.

“My son’s kinder closed due to a teacher who was positive 11 days ago. Not one child is positive, yet 100 kids and their parents have been locked up,” she wrote in a post shared by Shadow Pandemic Victoria.

According to the group’s Change.org petition, the term “shadow pandemic” was coined to represent the “explosion in mental health cases in youth and teenagers including eating disorders, suicidal ideation and self-harm”.
